Looking at Galleries

Looking at Galleries

Before we started our exhibition we (Reyhan, Denise and me) went to look for some inspiration. We went to some places where there were other artist displaying their art. We talked around with some of the people(other artists and people who are used to exhibition their work) about different things we could do (like how to display, and the overall look of the exhibition), but most of them said to ‘just do what you can do’.
But it was really inspiring to see how other artists work, and everyone was really nice to us.
Here are some pictures of the cool things we’ve seen

Inspiration and Motivation

 Inspiration and Motivation:

This is a small written piece about my motivation and inspiration for the exhibition and the progress behind the scenes. I’d like to tell the viewers more about my experience and how everything was seen from my very own point of view.

Throughout the days of school we wanted to hunt after Numana’s dream; her very own exhibition of art. Of course she wouldn’t be able to perform that by her own, and without the required artistic skills our group would be nowhere. So we decided to come up with a plan, where Ruben entered the scene with workshops.
After a few workshops and giving everyone a chance to shine, we started our new journey on crafting art for the exhibition.

Of course there was the good, the bad and perhaps awful times; yet we made it. And I can say proudly that we managed to do the impossible, presenting an exhibition whilst having nothing more than just three weeks for it. I call that amazing, and it amazed me that each of us managed to provide a masterpiece or two in some cases. The styles were different and nothing had to be the same, yet everything found its place and it stuck together nicely enough.

My inspiration to keep on going had to be the fact that I worked with friends for the first time during my schooling years, even if I wondered if that would be a nice option to go with; for I am known with my tantrums about perfection, and not everyone would be able to keep up with me if I go on this tantrum about art. Yet somewhere throughout all the trouble, I found it worthy a lot; more than likely to see that my own art improved in only a matter of time, thanks to both Numana and Ruben.

Drawing SoKo

Hello,
This will be my first personal post on this blog, exciting!
I’m going to talk about something that has inspired me lately. (To be honest, I’ve been obsessed with this so much that it has leaked into my art) That something is a person called SoKo.

SoKo is a French musician and actress. You may know her from one of the latest viral videos ‘First kiss’, which is about 20 strangers and their first kiss together. She’s one of the participants and her song is played in the background.

The thing that inspires me is her way of loving, especially her love-story with Keaton Henson. Keaton Henson is a musician I listen to a LOT and I love his music, it inspires me as well. Keaton makes the most painful love songs…ever. He sings about his painful love. I’m absolutely amazed by the feeling I get when I listen to his songs, the emotion I feel is overwhelming!

Recently I have found out that SoKo one of Keaton Henson’s ex-girlfriend and it made a LOT of sense. For some reason she is exactly like the girl I imagine in my head…the girl from the songs in real. That’s an aspect of SoKo that just amazed me. Finally an image from my brain is….there! It’s real!
I’ve done a little research on her, and just really grew fund of her and her way of loving. The aspect she “always get dumped”, even though she is amazing and that she’s always the one who ‘loves more’ or ‘wants it more’.
It made me realize there are more things than just looking good and being nice, there is something I don’t understand of love. SoKo turned out to be a ‘muse’ for me while drawing..  I like drawing her.

If you’re interested in their love story here is one of the songs they wrote for each other.
(It still confuses me, but alright)

(but I think this is Keaton’s real view https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6-QvBz9_lY)

If you like heartbroken songs, take a look at Keaton’s album DEAR, those are one of my favorite songs!
The story is just so... emotional. I feel guilty enjoying this story, but it inspires me to put more emotion into my art as well, and I just feel really attached to the people. So drawing SoKo feels nice because it seems like I know her a bit, it’s just becomes a bit easier for me to draw her.

I hope my babbling about something that inspires me can give you a better view of why I keep drawing this chick, haha. Please share stories of things that inspire you! That could be other stories, people, places, etc. it’s all possible!

=) Have a nice day~!

With love,
Numana
